$20 million in state funds will bring a new school to Wayne County

Gov. Jim Justice visited Wayne County Friday morning, bringing with him $20 million from the State School Building Authority for a new Buffalo Elementary School. The money will be used to add classrooms to Buffalo Middle School to make it a K through eighth grade facility. Buffalo Elementary was built in the 1960s. Officials say the building is old and outdated. They say learning is better in a new and updated facility, adding the new building puts students in a different state of mind. The money is part of nearly $150 million approved by the School Building Authority for several old and outdated schools across the state. Construction is scheduled to begin next summer and is expected to be finished a year later.
