Hill slip highlights Boone County storm damage

Clean up continues in Boone County after Thursday’s heavy rainfall. A slip in the Lens Creek area has limited Route 94 to a single lane and forced drivers to exercise caution along a steep embankment. Eyewitness News talked with Boone County Commissioner Jeff Petry, who has an engineering background and said the problem has become a public safety issue. A statement from WVDOH chief engineer of operations Joe Pack said high water closed several roads in at least 18 counties across the state. Pack added once the water recedes, crews can assess damage and plan repairs. Boone County Emergency Management launched an online storm damage survey so leaders can collect information and have a better understanding of where weather impacted communities the most.
