Kanawha County is taking applications for funding through the Opioid Settlement Fund. Applications are on the Kanawha County website. Organizations that apply must be able to prove the the funds will be used for things like opioid use disorder treatment, opioid misuse prevention and education, expanded care for incarcerated patients, expanded care for pregnant and postpartum women, and other approved uses. The Kanawha County Commission said the county received $2.9 million in its first allocation, and they promised transparency during the awarding process.
