Local law enforcement officer earns a national honor

A Kanawha County deputy has been named as Law Enforcement Officer of the Year by the U.S. Marshal Service, according to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office. Lt. Brent Borchers is receiving one of the highest honors granted by the U.S. Marshal Service for his service, becoming one of the two officers in the nation receiving the award this year. Over 24 years with the force, Borchers has served on county sheriff’s office warrants division, I.S. Marshals Southern District of West Virginia CUFFED Task Force, county sheriff’s bomb squad and as a Special Deputy U.S. Marshal. Sheriff Mike Rutherford and Chief Deputy Joe Crawford said in a news released that Lt. Borchers has had an “impeccable career.”
