Man accused of filing false documents while become a police officer enters plea

A Huntington man has pleaded guilty to submitting false documents showing he was a certified police officer in Mason County. David E. Kitchen pleaded guilty to fraudulent schemes, according to the Mason County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Prosecutors said Kitchen is accused of forging police certification records in order to obtain a position with the New Haven Police Department. The documents were discovered after the fact when Kitchen attempted to obtain a position with a police department in Kanawha County. As part of the plea, Kitchen has agreed to pay nearly $5,000 in restitution for the amount he was overpaid based on the scheme.
