Murder suspect kills himself at a traffic stop

A murder suspect took his own life Monday during a traffic stop in Kanawha County. Dennis Rahuba was wanted in a double homicide investigation in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and fatally shot himself during a traffic stop along Interstate 79 in Kanawha County Monday morning. The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office said Rahuba was wanted after a 53-year-old man and 50-year-old woman were found dead about 2:50 a.m. Monday in Pennsylvania, according to Allegheny County Police. Law enforcement notified authorities in West Virginia that Rahuba could be traveling south toward Kanawha County. Shortly after, a deputy spotted Rahuba’s vehicle near Big Chimney. Eyewitness News reported that Rahuba’s vehicle was stopped near the southbound Westmoreland exit about 7 a.m. and the interstate was shut down. When deputies surrounded the vehicle in an attempt to get Rahuba out, they said they heard a gunshot in the car. The sheriff’s office called in its SWAT team, including an armored vehicle, to approach the car where Rahuba was then confirmed dead.
