South Charleston USPS center to be modernized

The U.S. Postal Service will modernize the South Charleston distribution facility. The agency announced plans on Tuesday to spend $22.8 million to turn it into a local processing center and said there will be no career employee layoffs. At the same time, mail processing outgoing operations will be moved to Pittsburgh and Warrendale, Pennsylvania. There may be some reassignments and reductions in staff, but the career employees will stay. This comes after an extensive review of options to modernize the South Charleston facility and streamline mail processing.
