Wayne County is one area in West Virginia struggling with ambulance response issues. County leaders say they found a temporary solution in anticipation of next month’s vote on a county EMS Levy. If the levy passes the county will not see any of the money until July of 2025. In the meantime, Eyewitness News said county leaders are working on a temporary solution, with county commissioners voting to purchase three new ambulances totaling nearly $500,000, paid for with opioid settlement money. Next month during the West Virginia Primary Wayne County voters will consider an EMS Levy that would generate nearly $3 million annually. The ambulances are scheduled to be ready sometime this summer.
