A historic piece of the Charleston riverfront will have a new owner. The Union Building in the downtown area was sold in an auction last week for $950,000. The winning bid came from an online buyer whose name hasn’t been revealed, and will now have 60 days to close on the property. The Union Building was once one of the tallest buildings in West Virginia and was built in 1911. The building has 13 stories and is about 50,000 square feet along the Kanawha Boulevard. The buyer is expected to be announced in the coming days.
