Hundreds of bikers stop in Nitro

Hundreds of motorcycle riders traveled from California to Nitro, W.Va. to honor soldiers MIA and POWs in the annual “Run For The Wall.” “Coming down communities and towns that they cherish, the best thing I can do is say: ‘thank you’,” Vietnam veteran Ron Wind said. The ride began as a way for Vietnam veterans to give a voice to those who could no longer speak. For Wind, it was also a way to build camaraderie for those who need to talk about what they experience in war. “This ride saved my life three years ago,” he said. Wind served during the Vietnam War from 1970-71. According to the Department of Veteran Affairs, on average a veteran commits suicide every 90 minutes. Gov. Jim Justice issued a proclamation Wednesday for the riders, recognizing the day as “Run For The Wall Day.”
