Keith-Albee Performing Arts Center gets a financial boost

An historic Huntington venue has gotten a sizable donation for renovations. The Keith-Albee Performing Arts Center announced Monday it received a $1 million pledge from Brad and Alys Smith for capital renovations. The Keith-Albee is the last fully intact atmospheric theatre designed by Scottish-born American architect Thomas W. Lamb. It opened on May 7, 1928, and took 14 months to construct at the cost of $2 million. The news release said, since its opening, the venue has featured several high-profile acts and is home to several Marshall Artists Series shows. Brad Smith has served as Marshall’s president since 2022. Prior to being selected to the role, he spent several years as a CEO in Silicon Valley. The Keith-Albee’s board of directors has dedicated the lobby and reception area in the name of Brad and Alys Smith.
