The move comes after Carper, who had served on the commission for decades, abruptly stepped down from the position last week. The meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 20, at the voter’s registration office on Quarrier Street in Charleston, according to a meeting agenda. Carper’s resignation left president Lance Wheeler and Ben Salango as the remaining commissioners.
