Nitro’s grocery store to close this month

A Kanawha County grocery store will shut its doors at the end of May. Management for Cook’s Nitro Market announced the store has started a closing sale to empty shelves of inventory. Vanessa Cook’s grocery store at 2501 First Avenue will offer 30% off of products excluding alcohol, tobacco, meat, bread, milk and produce, according to a social media post from management. Formerly Nitro Supermarket, the city’s only option for groceries was damaged by fire in August 2022. The store reopened under new management in April 2023.
