Despite concerns over potential cases popping up, there have been no new cases of the measles in West Virginia. The state’s first measles case in fifteen years was confirmed on April 26 when health care officials said more than 125 people in 30 West Virginia counties were exposed to the individual. Friday marked the final day of a monitoring period for first-degree contacts with the person, according to a news release from the West Virginia Department of Health. No additional cases have been reported since. The case was linked to international travel in Monongalia County. The Bureau for Public Health recommends the safe and effective MMR vaccination to stay ahead of things.
