A man from Nicholas County is dead after a standoff situation in Summersville Tuesday afternoon. Deputies said they received a mental hygiene warrant on Jonathan Pritt Jr.. When they arrived at his house on Byron Road, deputies said Pritt fired several shots at deputies as they tried to go inside. Deputies said they returned fire and went outside to obtain cover. When the West Virginia State Police Special Response Team arrived, troopers sent a robot inside to find Pritt. Deputies said troopers located Pritt dead inside of the home. West Virginia State Police are investigating.
