Those interested should apply now to fill Kent Carper’s seat

Steps are being taken now to replace Kanawha County Commissioner Kent Carper, who resigned earlier this month. The Kanawha County Commission’s two remaning members have thirty days to fill the vacant seat and it must be a Democrat, since that was Carper’s affiliation. They’ve vowed full transparency during the process and ensured that any interested candidate will have the chance to apply. Natalie Tennant won the Democratic nomination for the seat in the West Virginia Primary and called on commissioners to appoint her to the seat. Candidates applying for the position must reside in either District 1 or District 3 and should apply by 5 p.m. Friday, May 24. A special meeting will be called on Thursday, May 30 to appoint the new commissioner.
