2yr old drowns in pond. Parents arrested for neglect

According to a news release from West Virginia State Police, two Lincoln County parents have been charged after a 2-year-old girl drowned in a pond Wednesday night. Jack Parsons Jr. 30, and Tara Adkins, 24, are charged with child neglect resulting in death and child neglect creating risk of injury. Parsons stated he was doing yard work and thought the children were inside.Troopers said they were called to Scary Creek Road about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday for a possible drowning where they found the 2-year-old and a 3-year-old in a pond near the residence.Tthe children were taken to a local hospital where the 2-year-old girl was pronounced dead, the news release said. The 3-year-old boy is in stable condition. Parsons and Adkins, parents of the children, are being held on $100,000 bond each.
