Anglers catch record fish in West Virginia waters

Two record-breaking fish were hauled from state waters this month, according to the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources. On June 9, Craig Webb landed a 2.85 pound, 17.32 inch black crappie at Woodrum Lake in Jackson County using a baby shad jig. On June 6, John Plott reeled in a footlong, 1.75-pound redear sunfish at Plum Orchard Lake in Fayette County with a nightcrawler. The fish were caught in waters under study of the DNR. A tagging program helps biologists gather data concerning fish population, size and growth.
