Huntington considers Charleston’s riverfront park amenities in its own park plans

The city of Huntington is looking to revamp two key areas, including a renovation of its riverfront park area. A 76-page master plan for Huntington Riverfront Park includes an amphitheater, RV park and reconstruction of the floodwall to make it removable. The concern is how much it will cost. A study looked at revenue from Haddad Riverfront Park in Charleston and the positive economic impact it has had. Huntington is hopeful for a similar draw. The city council tabled its discussion on approving the masterplan for a later council meeting. If the plan is approved, the engineering firm said it’ll take a minimum of two years just to design and gather construction documents.
