KRT is taking public comments on proposed changes to bus schedules

A public hearing was held recently at the Kanawha Regional Transportation Authority Headquarters in Charleston, and Eyewitness News said dozens of people went before the bus system’s leadership to plead to save the bus routes that could possibly get cut. KRT recently went through a comprehensive study to see where the bus system could improve, change rates and make cuts during financially challenging times. In the proposal, it suggests cutting almost half of their routes including 11 in places like Elkview, Clendenin, South Hills, Sissonville, Campbell’s Creek and Cross Lanes. KRT Executive Director Sean Hill stressed this is only a proposal and that all the public comments will be taken into consideration when making a final call. The next KRT board meeting will take place on June 27 and they’ll take more public comments.
