Neighbors are unable to rescue a Wood County fire victim

A person died in house fire in Wood County Friday night despite the efforts of two neighbors. The fire consumed a home along Dickens Drive in Mineral Wells with a disabled person stuck inside the home, according to a news release from Wood County Sheriff’s Office. Two neighbors, Blake Ritchie and Tracy Morris, saw the fire and attempted to go in, but the fire was too intense. First responders tried to go inside too, but were unable to because of the smoke and heat. Both Ritchie and Morris were transported to Camden Clark Medical Center to be treated for smoke inhalation and exposure.
