Parents charged after toddler drowns in a pond

Two Lincoln County parents have been charged after a 2-year-old girl drowned in a pond Wednesday night. Jack Parsons Jr. and Tara Adkins are charged with child neglect resulting in death and child neglect creating risk of injury, according to a news release from West Virginia State Police. Troopers were called to Scary Creek Road in the Hamlin area for a possible drowning call where they found the 2-year-old and a 3-year-old in a pond. Both of the children were taken to a local hospital where the 2-year-old girl was pronounced dead. The 3-year-old boy is in stable condition. Parsons and Adkins, who are the father and mother of the children, are each being held on $100,000 bonds. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
