Power companies holding off on maintenance work to prevent loss of AC

The regional power grid operator that covers West Virginia, Ohio and parts of Kentucky has extended its heat warning through Monday with Saturday shaping up to be the hottest day of the year. Appalachian Power continues to postpone routine maintenance activities that require planned shutdowns during the heatwave to keep customers’ air conditioners on during a weekend expected to bring the hottest day of the year.
