An outpouring of condolences and love flooded social media Wednesday following the passing of basketball legend Jerry West. West was a West Virginia native and hall of fame player known for his time on the court at West Virginia University and later with the LA Lakers in the NBA. He was also a well-respected executive in the league, most recently working in the front office with the LA Clippers. U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin said on social media, “When you think of basketball, you think of Jerry West.” WVU Men’s Basketball tweeted, “forever a Mountaineer.” West died Wednesday at his home at the age of 86.
