Several Tyler Mountain Volunteer Firefighters walk out

A Kanawha County community will be losing multiple firefighters who announced a “mass exodus” Monday, citing issues with administration. Eyewitness News said ten members of the Tyler Mountain Volunteer Fire Department submitted a joint resignation letter, alleging “nepotism, dishonesty and ultimately decisions being made that are not in the best interest of the community.” The group cited a problem with the current board of directors and chief officers as a reason for walking away, and they apologized to the Cross Lanes community. County officials said the agency is still functioning, but plans to cover the department’s calls are in the works.
