Staffing issues are improving at state hospitals and clinics

An initiative aimed at filling staff vacancies at state-run health facilities in West Virginia has decreased job openings by 8%. More than 80 new employees have been hired to work at state-run facilities as part of a recruitment and retention initiative launched in January, according to a news release from the West Virginia Department of Health Facilities. The efforts have resulted in new hires as well as the conversion of 40 contracted staff to state employees. The new system, a classification and compensation structure created by the Office of Shared Administration’s Office of Human Resources Management, was created based on recommendations from a market study conducted by Korn Ferry.
