Nearly 300 adult and teenage volunteers are in Huntington this week to help fix homes in need of repair. They are with the faith-based group WorldChangers and come from different states like Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. They come in contact with the homeowners through the city’s Project Shine program where homeowners who qualify can apply for free assistance to fix parts of their home that are damaged or not up to code. This week, WorldChangers will be on 23 different sites, according to Eyewitness News. Crews are housed at Huntington High School for the week and fed by local churches.
