West Virginia to receive a share of Johnson and Johnson settlement

West Virginia is set to receive nearly $6 million as part of a $700 million nationwide settlement with Johnson & Johnson. Attorney General Patrick Morrisey joined dozens of other attorney generals in a filing that accused Johnson & Johnson of deceiving consumers of the safety and purity of talc powder products in a advertisements, according to a news release from Morrisey’s office. The news release said the company agreed to halt the manufacturing and sales of products containing talc in the United States. Johnson & Johnson has since stopped selling the products around the globe following lawsuits claiming talc causes heath problems. The settlement is pending judicial approval.
