The East Bank Middle School football team just might get to play games on their field this upcoming season after all. Calvert Field, where the team plays, was deemed unsafe after structural engineers said games could not be played until repairs are made. The field can still be used, but the current state of areas like the press box and bleachers have made it to where games cannot be hosted there. That means home games would have to be played somewhere else.
A Kanawha County Schools spokesperson told Eyewitness News that KCS Superintendent, Tom Williams, met with the East Bank Middle School football program this week and they are trying to come up with a temporary solution so home games can be played on the field this season. The spokesperson said they feel confident but won’t know if they’re able to secure temporary facilities until the middle of this week.
