A West Virginia Girl Scout brings a mental health program to an elementary school

A West Virginia youth has earned the Gold Award, the highest rank in Girl Scouts, after developing a wellness program at a Summers County elementary school. Kaitlyn Ronat, an ambassador in the Black Diamond Council, began her Gold Award project with the goal of helping children whose emotional and social development were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a news release from the council. Ronat organized a volunteer effort to create and implement the Managing My Emotions program at Jumping Branch Elementary School. The initiative uses guest speakers, games and lesson planning to address the mental health of students.
