Increase in pay for correctional officers

The West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation has announced a significant increase in special hiring rates for correctional officers, effective immediately. The starting salary for correctional officers will increase from $40,000 to $42,900, marking a 7.2 percent increase. By the end of their second year, officers will earn $49,400. The new rate, approved by the State Personnel Board, will apply to Correctional Officer positions 1-7 statewide. Additionally, Correctional Officer 1 and 2 positions will see a pay increase after the first six months of service.
