Other agencies cover with the closure of the Dunlow VFD

The Dunlow Volunteer Fire Department and EMS station in Southern Wayne County has decided to close its doors after being shut down for the third time this year by the West Virginia State Fire Marshal. Mutual aid is stepping in to cover the area while county officials figure out a more permanent solution. According to the West Virginia State Fire Marshal, a state inspector told the department their equipment and apparatus would not pass inspection. Eyewitness News said this comes after the same department was shut down for previous violations such as not having valid workers’ compensation coverage and not providing the proper insurance documentation. The public service levy that recently passed in Wayne County will not go into effect until next summer.
