Sen. Manchin won’t run for President

U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin confirmed Monday morning that he will not run for president less than 24 hours after President Joe Biden ended his reelection campaign. Speculation surfaced hours after the president’s announcement that Manchin was considering a bid for the seat. The former Democrat, who is now registered as an independent, told multiple media outlets Monday morning that he had no plans to run. According to The Hill, Manchin also said he had no interest in serving as Kamala Harris’ vice president. The Democratic Party will hold its national convention on August 19.
