Special session for state lawmakers could happen in August

A special session could happen later this month for West Virginia lawmakers. Tax cuts and childcare are both are linked to economic development, the governor has made it clear he wants the state legislature to address both. It’s not clear exactly how that would happen. The governor wants another five percent tax cut to help attract workers from other states. Many state lawmakers will be in Charleston from August 25 to 27 for monthly interim committee meetings, and a special session could happen at the same time.
