Suspect arrested in connection with woman’s body found June 24

A suspect has been arrested in connection with a body that was found in Lincoln County, troopers said. Tony Williamson, 35, was taken into custody in the Parkersburg area early Monday morning, according to West Virginia State Police. Troopers said Williamson is charged with first-degree murder after a woman’s body was found in the Harts area of Lincoln County on June 24.Two days after the body was found, investigators said the woman, who has since been identified as 34-year-old Marissa Brandjes, died from a single gunshot wound. Troopers said in a criminal complaint filed in Lincoln County Magistrate Court that Brandjes was last seen June 20 leaving Big Splint Hollow in Mingo County with Williamson in her vehicle. Witnesses told investigators Williamson later returned in the vehicle without Brandjes and allegedly admitted to fatally shooting her.
