A man faces charges for abusing an infant because they wouldn’t stop crying

A Charleston man was charged after deputies said he tossed a baby to a couch because it wouldn’t stop crying. 23-year old David Davis is charged with child abuse resulting in injury after an incident earlier this month that resulted in a 5-week-old infant suffering a fracture and hemorrhage, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court. Deputies initially began investigating after they were called to a Charleston hospital on Aug. 7 for an infant that had suffered what staff determined to be non-accidental injuries. Hospital workers said the baby suffered a subdural hemorrhage and a fractured pinky, according to the complaint. Davis is currently being held on a $3,000 cash only bond.
