Appalachian Power rate increase would be postponed by several months

A potential increase in rates with Appalachian Power won’t got into effect until next year, if they’re approved. The company requested that the rate increase go into effect on September 1, according to documents filed with the Public Service Commission. The Consumer Advocate Division filed a Petition to Intervene on Aug. 13. The Public Service Commission later said the increases would not go into effect until May 29, 2025, if the PSC adopts the changes. A proposal shows the average home electric bill would increase by $28 dollars, and commercial property owners would see an increase of $60.
