Drought is causing boats to come out of Summersville Lake Marina

Extreme drought conditions are forcing some boat owners to pull vessels from the Summersville Lake Marina before they get beached or grounded. Eyewitness News said the worst drought in 25 years has the lake’s water level dropping to the point where boats moored in seasonal slips bank 1 through 45 had to be pulled out by yesterday to avoid getting stuck at the dock. Because of the extreme drought conditions the army corps of engineers is draining water from the lake to maintain water quality downstream, impacting conditions earlier than The fall whitewater season, starting Sept. 6, also takes water out of the lake. The Summersville Lake Marina will remain open with full services – including fuel, boat rentals and supplies – for as long as lake conditions allow.
