A Kanawha County man was fatally shot by his girlfriend early Thursday morning after an altercation turned violent, according to a news release from the Charleston Police Department. The shooting victim was identified as Chrishawn Perkins of Charleston. Police responded to a shooting call at a home in the 700 block of Grace Avenue about 2:45 a.m. Investigators said Perkins started striking and injuring his girlfriend and threated to kill her. She eventuallly picked up the firearm, fired a single shot and killed Perkins. The case has been handed over to Kanawha County prosecutors for further review, but so far no criminal charges have been filed.
