Man who allegedly shot a deputy in the hand appears in court

A man accused of shooting a Kanawha County deputy in the hand during a chase earlier this year pleaded guilty Tuesday. Nathan Oxley of Sissonville pleaded guilty to attempted murder and other charges related to a February 2024 chase and shooting. Oxley is accused of firing shots at a deputy during a traffic stop along Applehill Lane in the Sissonville area. The deputy was struck in the hand, but was able to return fire. Oxley was not injured. He’ll be sentenced on Oct. 28.
