Previously deported man from Florida arrested for shooting in Williams

A Florida man with previous violent crime convictions is accused in a shooting incident that followed an argument in Mingo County Investigators said.Jose Escobar, 57, of Fort Myers, Florida, has been charged with domestic assault and malicious wounding, according to jail records. Court records said deputies responded to a shooting call at a Peter Street home in Williamson Wednesday where witnesses claimed Escobar made threats following an argument. Escobar was accused of pulling a .22 caliber revolver and shooting a victim in the leg. Investigators said Escobar is a previously deported felon from Florida who was convicted of domestic battery in 2000 and negligent homicide/manslaughter in 1990. Escobar is being held at Southwestern Regional Jail on a $16,000 bond.
