Thomas community is dealing with discolored water

The extreme drought has helped leave the mountain community of Thomas, a major summer tourist stop, with discolored water for a month and restaurant operators are getting frustrated. State highway officials have positioned an 8,000 gallon tanker in Thomas to help residents after they began reporting discolored water at the end of June. Many have been buying bottled water and driving to different cities for laundry. At times, Eyewitness News said the local government has been giving out bottled water at City Hall. Officials say the problem is only cosmetic but the people of Thomas want a fix. Until the issue is resolved, the residents of Thomas are filling containers from the tanker parked near the fire department.
