Clean up efforts are underway throughout Huntington and thousands were in the dark Friday night after the remnants of Hurricane Helene made its way through Cabell County. High winds knocked down trees and powerlines, including around Ritter Park, which Eyewitness News said was one of the hardest hit areas in the county. Traffic lights along major intersections were out and without power, restaurants couldn’t cook, fuel stations couldn’t pump gas and a convenience store along Hal Greer Blvd. helped customers by flashlight. No injuries were reported.
