Infant’s cause of death ruled a homicide

A Huntington woman has been charged after her infant’s death was ruled a result of fentanyl intoxication. Candace Ferrell is charged with child neglect resulting in death after an incident in August, according to a criminal complaint filed in Cabell County Magistrate Court. Police said they were initially called to Ferrell’s Huntington home for an unresponsive 10-month-old baby girl. The child was taken to a local hospital where she later died. In executing a search warrant, officers found about three dozen pills inside a pack ‘n’ play where the child was found unresponsive. Court records said an autopsy performed on the child later ruled her death as a result of fentanyl intoxication.
