The career criminal who authorities said devised the murder of notorious Boston gangster James “Whitey” Bulger at a West Virginia prison was sentenced Friday in a Clarksburg federal court. As part of an agreement made with prosecutors, Fotios “Freddy” Geas, 57, pleaded guilty to one count of voluntary manslaughter and one count of assault resulting in serious bodily injury related to his role in Bulger’s Oct. 30, 2018, beating death at USP Hazelton in Preston County. Geas was sentenced to serve 180 months on the voluntary manslaughter charge and to serve 120 months on the assault charge. The two sentences, totaling 25 years, will be served consecutively, and will be served consecutively to the multiple life sentences Geas is already serving.
