Parents, alumni and residents of East Bank have been very vocal with their concerns after the Kanawha County Board of Education announced it was considering the consolidation of more schools at Tuesday’s meeting. Residents said taking the school out of their town is taking the heart out of it, especially after they lost East Bank High School over two decades ago and lost the middle school’s football field earlier this year. The residents said they’re not surprised the board has proposed a consolidation plan and feel they’ve been disregarded by the Kanawha County Board of Education. The consolidation plans are not set in stone and the Kanawha County Board of Education has scheduled several public hearings in October for residents to voice their concerns.
