Special session begins Monday in Charleston

It is less than a week away from a late September special legislative session, and so far, West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice has only given some indication of what will be on the call. The governor released a video earlier this month announcing that the special session would begin on Sept. 30 and that he would propose an income tax cut, a child care tax credit and supplemental appropriation bills. Justice said he plans to propose an additional 5% income tax cut. This would come on the heels of last year’s income tax cut of 21.5% and an additional 4% cut from a trigger mechanism within the bill. Justice has also indicated he wants to appropriate unspent dollars to various projects, but has not yet specified what those will be.
