Teen pleads guilty in tobacco shop murder case

14–year old Bre’juan Williams-Hampton of Charleston pleaded guilty to first-degree murder for the shooting death of a Charleston tobacco shop employee.
In exchange for the plea, Kanawha County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Eric Cantrell said the state agreed to dismiss a first-degree robbery charge and not pursue any other juvenile charges pending against him. 19-year old Caden Martin of Charleston was shot and killed on Jan. 30 while working at Tobacco & Pipe on Seventh Avenue in North Charleston. A second teenager charged in connection with the murder, Barack Williams, had his case moved to adult status in early August. Williams-Hampton told the court that he was on the one who fired the shot that killed Martin. Williams-Hampton will be sentenced on Oct. 23.
