The suspect in a 2022 shooting learns his sentence

A man accused in a deadly 2022 shooting in Charleston was sentenced to five years in prison in the case after taking a substantially reduced plea deal earlier this year. 37-year old Shavan Collins of Charleston was sentenced in the case after taking a plea deal in August that saw the first-degree murder charge against him dropped in the death of 34-year-old Dontaze Mosley. Collins, also known as “Bang,” was accused in the death of Mosley, who was found shot twice, once in the chest and once in the arm, in the front yard of a home in the 1400 block of Frame Street about 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 26, 2022. Collins was ordered on Tuesday to pay a $5,000 fine along with the five-year sentence.
