A Kanawha County man accused of attacking a business owner and police officer last year was sentenced to prison Wednesday. 33-year old Juriah Roncal has been sentenced to one-to-five years in prison on a malicious assault charge and has been denied rehabilitation. Court records said police were called to WV Auto Care in September 2023 after Roncal was accused of punching the property owner in the face. Officers said Roncal became violent as he tried to flee the scene, striking an officer in the head before attempting to gouge the officer’s eyes. He was apprehended several blocks away from the business.
